Curtiss C-46 Commando Aircraft Postcard 1950s Claire Lee Chennault WWII Planes

$6.99

Standard-size postcard, measuring about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Printed on heavy matte photo paper with pigment inks. Scanned from the original negative and digitally-restored. High-resolution scan, digital restoration, and professional printing by Neil Campau, Calamity Photo, Portland, Oregon. Photographer is unknown.

Based on research of the aircraft (XT-160, XT-170 and XT-136), the date of this image appears to be 1952 or 1953, although location and identify of the man is unknown. The negative appears to have at one time been in the possession of the Captain of the Port of Los Angeles (US Coast Guard), Long Beach, California. These planes were bought from China by CAT (Civil Air Transport), which was owned by Claire L. Chennault and Whiting Willauer.
